Especially after times of Covid-19, pain, discomfort or symptoms of illness were omnipresent. But even beyond that, these symptoms made up a part of our lives.
We feel and complain of pain when we fall down, when we catch a cold or get a virus, but what functions are actually behind these symptoms?Because even if we usually find them unpleasant, the body needs them.
For example, fever serves as a mechanism that protects us from infections, the pain per se is a system alarm of the body, headaches can be a symptom of dehydration and remind us to drink enough water, vomiting can occur as a defense mechanism, etc.
So why do we put all our interest in eliminating these symptoms instead of understanding their causes and purpose?
The goal of chiropractic is therefore actually not to eliminate the symptoms, but rather to optimize the body's own functions and to strengthen the body. This will mean that far fewer symptoms occurs and even if, they will be significantly milder.
This does not mean that the chiropractic should replace visiting your family doctor at all, but only that there is way in which it might be less often needed.
Especially at the beginning of a chiropractic treatment, it can happen that the symptoms do not disappear immediately, however, this is not due to the treatment itself, but rather because the body just needs time to heal and to become healthier and stronger. Therefore the feeling of wellbeing lies in the optimization of this state of health and not just in the control of symptoms.
